The Air Quality (England) Regulations 2000 set national objectives for local authorities in England. The Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) process places an obligation on all local authorities to regularly review and assess air quality in their areas, and to determine whether or not the air quality objectives are likely to be achieved. Where there is an exceedance, or likely exceedance, of an air quality objective the local authority must declare an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA).
Currently there are 7 AQMAs in Worcestershire declared within the Bromsgrove, Wychavon, Wyre Forest Districts and all of Worcester City Council area. No AQMAs have been declared within Malvern Hills District Council and Redditch Borough Council areas to date. Follow the link to view a map of Worcestershire AQMAs.
