Update on the Yorkshire Terrier stray that tugged at the heart strings of Worcestershire residents

Following public concerns in the horrible treatment a recent stray has experienced, Dog Wardens from Worcestershire Regulatory Services have provided an update.

The dog named Sweet Pea was found a suitable safe space with a charity where she was matched up and placed in a foster home where she was loved, well fed and warm.

We can confirm that the Yorkie-cross received exemplary care under South East Dog Rescue who took on the huge veterinary costs to make sure that Sweet Pea received the necessary treatment due to the previous abuse in her past life.

The dog’s first experience of love and kindness did not last as Sweet Pea passed away six days later with her heartbroken foster family.  The trauma she endured was too severe to recover from.

Pip Griffin, Senior Dog Warden, has said: “As a team, we were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of such a lovely dog.

“Thank you to South East Dog Rescue for providing her with the care she always deserved.

“We are incredibly grateful to residents who have shown an interest in Sweet Pea’s story and have wanted to help.”

At the time of writing, Dog Warden Officers have not received significant leads on the stray’s previous owners.

The team are continuing to ask the public to call 01905 822799 with information and hold whoever caused so much neglect and suffering accountable.
