Bromsgrove Residential Home Gets ‘Gold’ for their Healthier Choices Menu
Residents at a North-Worcestershire care home, which has its own coffee shop, in-house hair beauty salon and a cinema, are also tucking in to a hearty, but healthy, breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.
Chandler Court in Bromsgrove, part of the Care UK group, opened up in January this year, and is pulling out all the stops to offer its residents a real ‘home from home’ experience, which includes a daily menu of freshly prepared, tasty meals.
The team has just been awarded a prestigious ‘Gold’ rating in Worcestershire Regulatory Services’ Healthier Choices Food scheme (HCFA), and not surprisingly they are over the moon.
Said Head Chef, Nicola Burton: “The whole team here at Chandler Court work together to offer our residents, staff and visitors a healthy alternative when it comes to food and drink. We have a varied menu and we’re flexible if a resident wants something different.
We are delighted to have achieved the Healthier Choices Food Award, especially a ‘Gold’ standard, and we will continue to uphold the values and aims of this scheme.”
The team received the accolade from Environmental Health Officer, Amy Woodcock.
Chandler Court is a purpose-built care home which reflects Care UK’s ethos of helping residents to enjoy busy and fulfilling lives. Residents can sit and watch the world go by over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake or meet friends and visitors for a catch-up. It is set in secure, landscape gardens, abundant with birdlife, are there are opportunities to help with the planting in raised flower beds.
The home’s chefs plan and prepare delicious meals made from the best ingredients for all tastes and diets. There are also special menus and tasty treats to celebrate events like Valentine’s Day or Halloween, and staff relish making residents’ birthdays and anniversaries days to remember.
