National Infrastructure

Introduction

From time to time large scale infrastructure and construction projects take place that are unavoidable due to their national importance or a strategic improvement for socio-economic reasons. Many of these projects have the potential to cause disruption to existing residents which is unavoidable.

Where this is likely to happen WRS will engage in negotiations with planners, development managers and contractors involved and will agree the best methods of reducing the impact of noise, dust and vibration on members of the local community. This is normally done through the brokering of a legal agreement under the Control of Pollution Act 1974. Section 61 of the Act allows developers and building contractors to apply for ‘Prior Consent’ where noise generating activities may occur during the construction phase of a development.
