Environmental information
The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) provide members of the public with the right to access environmental information held by local authorities and other bodies. This information is used in many ways such as the purchase of houses (conveyance of), Property Development (Identifying land contamination and previous uses) and personal interest. Anyone can access this information through WRS, please follow the links below in order to make a request.
What information do I need ?
Please choose from one of the following options : -
- If you are buying or selling houses then you will need to request the House Buyer application.
- If you require EIR for professional risk assessment then you will need to make a request using the Professional application.
Cost of retrieving environmental information
WRS charge a flat rate of £51 for each 'Contaminated Land' information request.
Other information requests are subject to a cost review, on a case-by-case basis.
How long will it take to receive my information?
WRS are required to respond to all requests within the statutory 20 working days however most requests are usually processed quicker dependant on demand. Please note that some information is held online and it is recommended that you see what's freely available before making your EIR request.

Has there been any intrusive investigations or remediation carried out at my site, or any adjacent site? | WRS will provide dates and titles of any reports held and confirm whether the reports are publicly available |
