Local Air Quality Reporting

Annual Status Reports

The Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) framework requires local authorities to provide an Annual Status Report (ASR) of air quality within their areas. WRS produce and submit these reports annually on behalf for local authority partners.

In these documents you will find information on the status of air quality, where air monitoring is carried out, what the levels are and the activities and progress taking place in each area to improve air quality where exceedances of government air quality objectives occur.

Air Quality Action Plans

Where an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) is designated, the local authority must prepare an Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) setting out the measures it intends to put in place in to improve local air quality and achieve compliance with the national objectives.

There are three current published AQAPs:

  • Bromsgrove District Council Air Quality Action Plan (2025-2030)
  • Worcester City Council Air Quality Action plan (2024-2029)
  • Wyre Forest District Council Air Quality Action Plan (2025-2030)

The published AQAPs detail the measures the local authorities and air quality partners are enacting to reduce concentrations and emissions of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) to achieve compliance with national objectives within determined areas of poor air quality.

Although measures outlined within AQAPs are focus on reducing NO2 across Worcestershire, Defra advise actions taken will also result in linked improvements in other pollutants such as particulate matter.
