Reporting an accident to a licensed vehicle
If your licensed hackney carriage or private hire vehicle is involved in an accident, you must report it to the Licensing Authority within 72 hours, even if the vehicle does not appear to have been damaged.
You should report the accident in writing and provide a description and photographs of any damage.
This allows the Licensing Authority to make an initial assessment of whether the vehicle remains safe and suitable for licensed use. Depending on the nature and extent of any damage, you may be required to present the vehicle for inspection by a licensing officer.
If the vehicle is considered unsafe or otherwise unsuitable for licensed use, its licence will be suspended until the necessary repairs have been completed and the vehicle has passed a further inspection.
To report an accident, you should email the following to enquiries@worcsregservices.gov.uk:
-
A completed Accident Report Form. (Download a form)
-
Photographs showing each side of the vehicle and its registration mark.
-
Clear photographs of any damage to the vehicle.
You must report any accident to comply with the conditions of your licence. Failure to report an accident may compromise public safety and could result in formal enforcement action being taken against you.
