The application is made to vary the Premises Licence in respect of the Lock . The premises is a long established public house sitting adjacent to the canal and is very popular with locals and tourists during the summer period.

The premises Is owned and operated by Marston's Plc who also own the adjacent Old Smithy Tea Room which is run under the same management.

This application seeks to incorporate into the existing Premises Licence the Tea Room so as to allow the undertaking of licensable activities within the Tea Room which will support requests by persons frequenting it for alcoholic drinks along with teas, coffees, food etc.

Furthermore to facilitate the undertaking of private bookings for events such as wakes, baby showers, gender reveals or small private parties for celebratory events.

The extension to the Tea Room is sought to enable the operation of the premises as to the same hours and is sought to include the terraced patio area adjacent to the canal in respect of both the Tea Room and the Lock Inn, such external area to be limited for licensable activities until 23:00 hours.

The premises is situated away from residential accommodation and it is not anticipated that any issues should arise from the incorporation of the additional areas both internally or externally

In view of the historic trading history of the premises and no issues arising, no additional conditions are proposed.
