We have had number of cases of Parvo (Parvovirus) in all areas that WRS cover.  This is a highly contagious and deadly disease.  Early symptoms include lethardy, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea. Seek veterinary advice immediately if your dogs shows any signs of this.

We can only recommend and encourage you to make sure your dog is vaccinated ever year.

Media reporting of illness affecting dogs

WRS are aware of reports of an unknown illness affecting dogs in the UK - Alabama Rot.

Worcestershire in particular has been mentioned by the BBC as having an incident reported.

  • Avoid letting your dog go into water whilst outside. It is believed that all cases where dogs have died had been in water;
  • If your dog has been in water, our advice is to bathe the animal using a mild or dog specialist shampoo, as dogs that had died had not been bathed straight away
  • If you are concerned about your dog's health in any way seek veterinary advice.
