STARTING A FOOD BUSINESS
It is a legal requirement under EC Regulation 852/2004 that all food businesses register with their local authority at least 28 days before opening (for all Worcestershire based food businesses this is Worcestershire Regulatory Services).

All registrations will be acknowledged in writing and new premises will normally be visited by an officer within 28 days of starting trading.
Some food businesses that manufacture food, particularly products of animal origin such as dairy, meat and fish products, may require approval under EC Regulation 853/2004. If you are planning to produce this type of product, talk to a member of the WRS food team first as there may be specific legal requirements you need to meet.
