FOOD HYGIENE RATING SCHEME
Worcestershire Regulatory Services have now adopted the national 'Food Hygiene Rating Scheme'. This replaces the local scheme previously operated by this council.
The scheme is a Food Standards Agency/local authority partnership initiative designed to help consumers choose where to eat out or shop for food. It does this by providing information about the hygiene standards in food outlets at the time they were inspected by Worcestershire Regulatory Services to check compliance with legal requirements.
The scheme also encourages businesses to improve hygiene standards.
The overarching aim is to reduce the incidence of food borne illness.
At this time the scheme is restricted to caterers and butcher's shops that sell both raw and ready to eat food.
